Hi all,

As well as working for my Local authority i also subbie for 2 local companies.I have a basic rigging setup capatan and block etc which i seem to be using more often of late.

My problem is the ground guys i get are usually not used to rigging trees and have little to no knowledge of a rigging system.

Its difficult to get guys good at lowering when i only work with them now and then.Is there any other system i could utilise to make it easier on the ground guys...xrings perhaps.

Im open to ideas not critisism please

Thanks folks

Nope, not in my (many years of) experience, the only way to do this is train someone to do the job properly

Make a little rigging model

So you can explain easier and faster.

Now THAT is a great idea - I know to a lot of us its obvious, but when theres a trainee or a 'slow' or unfamiliar groundie it's just the job. :thumbup1::thumbup1:

I can see the sense in that but rigging newbies tend to be pooping themselves and would have to face the wrath of the boss/client/workmates taking the pee if anything goes wrong.

They lack faith in the climber/rope/bollard/ability and generally end up with way too much friction in the system. As son as you are a couple of feet away they start questioning themselves and generally not having a good time of it.

Good rigging isn't something most people can learn by "suck it and see"

A model is a good teaching aid but if the fert hits the spinner, you immediately come to the question of "working of instructing" I wouldn't want to be pointing at the model and saying "well I told him what to do"............. :001_rolleyes:

As josh says .... A fixed bollard is almost fool proof even a floating rc2000 would be a a lot easier to get there heads around than a portawrap then all you have to do is shout how many wraps and hold or run.
