When has a climbing rope had it?

Tightly tape it off with electric tape, just short of damaged section. Neatly cut through with sharp knife. Then melt end, making sure to seal the end and not leave any sharp melted protrusions.

Don't touch the melted end with fingers while still hot. It hurts like hell.

As Joe has said, there's a few of us that can splice.

Your New England 'Agama' is a easy rope to splice

Also worth mentioning that it's doubtful suppliers will splice ropes that haven't come from them or are used

Suppliers may not, but I know you like a challenge.

You can cut it yourself - my method is wrap where you're going to cut in insulation tape, heat an old Stanley knife to red hot with a blowtorch and go straight through, seals it as you go then
