Chip everything you can, stuff all that keeping it for logs. Mugs game (not logs specifically but mucking about trying to save stuff from the jaws for a few quids worth of wood)

Yep, by definition, a tracked machine will reduce dragging and the "chip back in" factor is a huge bonus, it's what tracked machines are all about

I agree also, with a tracked machine you just want the stuff through sod 5"logs it ain't worth the hassle, also get the biggest machine you can warrent, it not about chipping just timber it's the brashy stuff that takes time and effort.

Redwood are selling a Greenmech 1928 Safetrak on eBay at the moment - it looks good condition/value for the price IMO.

that machine does look far better value for 11k than the used Jensens, often with similar hours and an extra 5k price tag.

Only thing is they are so heavy, difficult to see how a Transit type outfit could use one, maybe if they had a big 4wd pick up/ landy as well

2.5 tonne (ish) on a trailer - we tow ours with Iveco Daily, Ford Ranger and Toyota Dyna no probs. Transformed the way we work to be honest - there aren't many places you can't get to with a Safetrak (which is certainly not the case with the majority of tracked chippers IME). That one Redwood are selling is a bargain!
