£12 per hour is way too cheap especially if you are offering free collection you should be £20 minimum be very cautious of doing fixed price jobs as this can bite you right on the backside especially on some of the more difficult problematic repairs

I think the people who think £12 an hour is a lot of money are forgetting that the workshop will need public liability insurance, tools, equipment, time to order spares, time to invoice, time to pack goods, time to book couriers, a book keeper, solvents, cloth wipes, latex gloves:blushing:, lighting, heating, phone, internet, premisis, marketing..........etc!

It all costs a bit and it ain't £12 hitting the bottom of your pocket!

the other thing to take into consideration is 2 things

1) if someone is happy to do such task for a SAID amount

2) if the customer is happy to pay SAID amount for SAID task

if both above can be answered yes then that is the way of life

Why would they call him a cheapskate? If he does a good job he isn't exactly a cheapskate!! £50 in my eyes is too expensive

You wouldn't get out of bed for £12/hour! it's a lot of money is that.

Exactly my thought

£12.00 hr ...very cheep indeed!... delivery and collection as well !!, vehicle ,fuel, insurance ,time and so on.

Cant comment on the OP"s expectation of income or overheads but would be interested how the Hourly rate was arrived at ?

I certainly couldn't run at £12.00 a hr ..even if i got £12.00 a HR for ...EVERY HR .. whatever i was doing ,be it paperwork , research ,maintenance of workshops kit !!

Our rates differ, as has been shown on the posted comments here for many reasons.
