Well A drink in my eyes is offering up a thank you, without money changing hands...

I suppose a small token might be acceptable, maybe frame it as petrol money for their days usage....somethin like that might constitute a thank you of sorts..... 20 quid or so....!!!!

You're the only person I know of that would think that.

Yes, I have my ways.... I refuse to take on jobs if someone wants a cut from them... I return the favor by refusing to accept financial reward if I get someone else a job...

Tbh I'm not interested in your business ethics, nor was my post reference to it.

"A Drink" as in "there's a drink in it for you..." is money.

Edit. I see you've edited your own post, we're singing from the same song sheet it seems.

All good.

You wouldn't give them a penny?.... nice attitude there ain't it?...

Offering a drink aught suit both parties. no need to offer money when good will is far more valuable than money...

I offer my services to garden companies as a climber. Let them take on the job, deal with all the crap I don't want to, take my day rate and go home :)

Sometimes it's been less than ideal in the sense that some are numptys, but on the whole it's ok.

Send out a few emails explaining your quals and your day rate. You might be surprised at the response. If they feel they can diversify to earn a bit more money they might just bite.

And 20%? What if it's a £1000 quote? You're gonna hand over £200? Sod that!!!
