Yeah I've heard the 3 litre is better all round. Everything I read is suggesting that as well, seems to be the extta power makes the weight carrying easier I guess.

And Hamish it'll be post 2011, one of the newer ones

The 2.5 started at 102bhp i think.

Ive got a 3.0 auto, 2015, averages 29mpg mixed driving, 10% towing. The auto is lovely to tow with.

I saw a pic of someone with a 5year old 3.0, chipped and a performance exhaust getting 50+mpg driving on a long run, with all terrain tyres

Bloody hell mine (3L auto)is lucky to see the nice side of 25mpg!!

TBH if your worried about MPG the Hilux probably ain't the best choice. But I love mine!😉

Have a HiLux 3.0 200 auto, great for towing, mpg isn't as bad as the last pick up we had D22 but both love the tail ends to come round to see you if roads wet, makes for some interesting times lol.

Haha that'll be the lack of weight over the back.

Good to hear they're not massivley bad on juice! Be a punch in the stomach going from 40 ish to 30-35 mpg

3.0 litre auto i would expect 30 on a run 20 around town 14 towing

I'm always looking at single cab hilux to convert to tipper!! But they all seem to be 2.5!?

I've had my ford ranger tipper re mapped last week! Made a nice difference 👍🏻

I would think closer to 25 towing less around town!

Hi, new to this place but just thought to say - nice choice of vehicle. I had one for about 12 years. It wouldn't die and when I finally justified getting rid of it to myself (even though it was still passing each MOT with flying colours and broke down only ONCE in those 12 years), I sold it to a friend who is to this day still drives it.

Maybe you've seen this... [ame]

My choice would be 3L - 2.5 just doesn't cut it and you'll find towing (if you ever do it) a bit harder.

Cheers
