When I started I was excited about the money, I'm not as excited as I was 10 years ago, unfortunately :crying:

That's true for me too, but then I look at the other jobs out there and think Na sod it I'll stick to being up this big beech on a sunny winters morning.

At what point do they think about earning a decent living?

That's fair enough but I know chippys who earn £200 a day but still moan about wages.

In all honesty if you want to make a decent wage in any game you have to set up shop yourself.

Are you suggesting that an employed experienced Arb who is good at there job should only ever expect to earn 120 a day? Seems a little low to me

That's about £30k a year.

Not many trades offer 'fully qualified' status after a 10 week course.

How many other trades log onto a website like this?

Can you imagine plumbers posting vids of 'Today's best tap washer fix'?

It's a unique job.

It's just unfortunate the money is crap.

Ok it's not all sunshine and rainbows but I still prefer it to the idea of sitting in an office. But if it gets so bad I don't want to do it anymore then I'll look in to other areas of tree work or other industry's

There is one option for all you arb guys.... Give up the coloured string and come do forestry....never any chance of a good wage....so you give up wishing....but big trees everyday and lots of fun....never a hedge in sight!

This is true, took me about 7 years to be anywhere near qualified in all I do, but i do multi trade.

I find my job pretty unique, but not always on a daily basis. I do get your point.

30k a year is Ok money, but not aspirational. I prefer to earn about 25 on a average 3.5 day week.
