speed line question

never really used a control line much myself but in this case the stuff was quiet close to a roof with plastic panels in, so i thought it gave a bit more margin for error.

iam thinking along the lines of a sling and crab and munter hitch next to the climber but this would mean holding it whilst cutting.

thanks carl

I'd say it would work but you what to avoid cutting anything to big or letting it fold slightly so you hands not getting palled towards the saw.

Sounds like an interesting job mate

I use a rigging plate beneath a petzl tandem pulley then just clip a return line to the rigging plate, and belay it from a krab or pulley set up near me in the tree. You may be able to about make it out in this video.

Sometimes just having a bunch of slings is quicker, but in the case of the video it was quite a walk for the groundies to bring the slings my side of the moat

Those bits fly on the tandem Steve, nice work.

I use the big ISC 50kn swing cheek and rigging plate tagged with an old climbing line linked to a sling and small pulley for returns , just remember to tie a knot in the end as they do build up line speed and pull the whole lot through.

Did a tricky ash re Pollard which we decided to speed line, ran that exact setup and it worked a treat, being able to retrieve myself was really handy as there was only one person on the ground.
