Took the two Monkey Puzzles down this week, they’d been standing dead for approx two years (so well seasoned); ringed it all up and thought I’d take my chance and pop it over to a local fire-wood dealer………….they didn’t want it!!?? :confused1:

Anyone know how it burns??

Last one i took down i gave to a local turner in exchange for some bowls etc

Turners seem to love the stuff, but the crap that comes out is bleedin awful:thumbdown:

It could still be worth something to wood turners, as they turn bowls out of the branch stubbs, so any rings with whorls of stubbs will be ok.

Araucaria is well know for being highly sought after by wood turners as the others have said (not sure about dead sections though). Even very small pieces can be incorperated as features in larger items. It can be turned or cut into very thin slithers and when held up to the light can glow deep orange... probably the only thing that Monkey Puzzle is good for (I hate 'em!)!
