Can we close this thread? We're reminiscing over something that has been and gone, without trying to sound insensitive. Discussing it is not constructive by and stretch of the imagination.

Maybe so, but I've been thinking about this whole thing and how it got this far. Here's my interpretation - I don't know the guy, and, correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I could gather he clearly had learning difficulties. He posted nonsense on top of nonsense, did it bother me? No. Did it interfere with relevant threads? Maybe. So, instead of a moderator having a quiet word in his ear to keep things arb/forestry/timber related, it got left until he got bullied off of the forum. As far as I'm concerned he was a sandwich short of a picnic and the mods left him to his own devices (as far as I know). I wouldn't expect my colleagues at work to bully me out of my job if I was doing irrelevant stuff on site like weeding someone's bed when I'm there to remove a conifer. I would expect my boss to pull me aside to tell me to keep on track.

I think this has been handled badly and I feel for the guy. He obviously loved this forum and no doubt promoted it whenever he could.

But like I say, this is just my interpretation and feeling on the matter. I don't care for recrimination or what anyone has to say about my statement. I just felt the need to express my feelings on what I've been following over the last couple of weeks. Peace.

Matty
