To be on the safe side with Oak I always air dry a year per inch of thickness plus a year before kilning.

So, a 2" thick board would air dry for 3 years.

I know it seems a long time but compared to how long its taken for the tree to grow, it's but a drop in the ocean.

Besides you don't want your dining table to bend into a canoe .

If it's been outside it could easily be 20% or more moisture: inside it may dry to about half that. Timber needs to be 'inside dry' before you make anything out of it, to be safe from too much movement.

Luckerly found some already sawn timber from a friends yard, I've stacked mine up and am using his .

So far have done these two.

 

The sound bar and tv bolt to the top with the sub bolted to the under side so it hangs off the ground.

Will get a picture of it assembled later today as moving my final bits into the house.

That is so simple in it's design yet so beautiful...

I was thinking about making chairs but I feel they are a little too formal and time consuming. I feel the benches suit my place a lot more as well.
