Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but have been trying SRT on tachyon 11.5 - which i find to be pretty bouncy and squares off a bit under my weight (only on srt)

the problem i have is my friction hitch (sirus 8mm) either not biting at all (3 wrap 2 braid), making ascending annoying as i have to grab the hitch in order for it to bite

or, the opposite.. if i use a 4 wrap vt or use a distel hitch with more than 3 wraps, it seems to bind up really tight and become a pain in the arse...

Seems like a few guys are using slightly thicker friction hitch??

thanks

I ended up with Kernmaster and bought a few lengths of different friction hitch cord. I found like you did that some were too grippy and made descending jerky and some didn't grip well. Ended up using Bee-Line which seems ok but needs a bit of attention now and them (VT).

I have used kernmaster and bee-line and found that the Knut was more reliable than a VT (It was Adam Bourne who turned me on to this. Thanks Adam!)

So try a knut and see how you get on.

I'll give it a try, Cheers :thumbup1:

Bin the Sirius. If it's off the reel it's not PPE rated, and being an all polyester construction you'll probably find you're better off on a heat resistant cord.

Is any friction cord sold off the reel actually rated for PPE?

Pretty sure all friction cord is sold off the reel, unless you buy sewn/spliced lengths like a pillock.

And your point is?

Really?

Of course it is. If it's sold as friction cord it's rated as PPE.

Sirius is no good , you'll burn it out with one quick climb on a rope wrench , honey bros sell Armour prus by the meter it lasts infinitely longer in comparison and you have far less chance of burning it out.
