Fastest screen / shelter hedge

Having just got rid of bamboo ( I hope ) that I'd planted 15 years ago in own garden, I would have to say that although it did it's job as a screen really well I'd never plant it again unless it's roots were completely contained.

On a large scale as a screen I can imaging it causing a lot of future grief, just my opinion.

Got to be a choice between Leylandii and Laurel. I'd go for Laurel personally as you have the option of hitting it back hard if you ever wanted to.

 

 

Started to read the thread and got this far. Laurel was my thought. Toxic to livestock but pulls out easy. Burns great even when green. Just don't breathe it due to cyanide gas.

 

Bamboo comes in two forms. Running or clump forming rhizomes.

Research your variety before planting.
