How I burn brash varies generally I start a small fire & add to it, occasionally I may take a swedish candle with me (& a few extra to sell to the customer) light that then turn it into a bonfire but usually just look around for something dry there is always something that will burn.

If someone else builds the fire & messes it up I just make a small fire on the edge of it & the wind pushes it through once it gets going.

On bigger jobs where there is tons of the stuff to get rid of & time is of the essence I am more likely to build a massive heap use old oil or diesel & push the fire in with a digger or loader depending what is to hand.

A small amount of petrol is useful for the first oomph, but burns too quickly to get anything green dried out. Trying to solve this by using more petrol = asking for trouble.

Heavier grades of oil, with slower combustion, are the way to go if someone wants to use liquid fuel. Or veg oil, for that matter - less of a concern about it getting into the soil.

Do you all remember the story a few years ago about the guy who was dismantling a conifer? They lit a fire at the base of the tree, he was dropping stuff straight onto the fire to burn. All clever stuff, till the tree caught on fire and he died.

New one on me, can well believe it, did see a conifer badly fire damaged from a garden bonfire too close.

Either a tyre or some inner tube little bit of petrol in tyre set light.. Then break up some smallish twigs getting bigger as the fire starts to burn them In the end you would be able to burn big bits of wood and keep piling them on but the secret is keep it it laying one way don't criss cross the brash as you load the fire else it will bird nest and won't go... if you use this method I guarantee you won't go wrong
