How is TV funded around the world?

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-26546570

Advertising and commercial interests. For example a car maker could have a documentary of their car being built, developed etc.

Whilst we are discussing TV licence fee, paying for the privledge to watch. What about SKY. I've never had it but I've heard people pay £30 upwards a month, then every so often a commercial break then in movies etc just as it's hotting up ten minutes before the end. Another commercial.

I know some people record and skip the ads.

But in theory you have paid for it.

An opportunity here lads.

Turn up to a job.

Get gear out.

Walk around with sandwich boards with ads on. Or play recorded ads.

Start saws out get job going.

Just as it gets to an exciting bit or the kids leaving school down tools.

Take a commercial.

Finish job

Get paid for job and advert work.

You wouldn't do it would you, yet we accept it with TV.

How is TV funded around the world? - BBC News

Here in the states, we have free market capitalism. Programing is paid for by sponsors purchasing advertising time in order to present goods and services for consumers or customers to buy and use. I can purchase an entenna and pick up

some local channels and I can listen to radio, AM, FM, SW, LW for free.

If I choose to purchase cable or satalight for more channels I can.

Personnally I have cable which allows me the most channel to watch by way of the cable provider. There is a slight fee or tax the state includes with my bill every month, however that is a user fee of about $2.00 or $3.00 per month.

If I was forced to pay for everyone else's TV and radio viewing and listening habits I would not be living in Germany, no offense. At least that is how it works in the USA.

ELG, I've been to the U.S. and watched the TV.

My TV licence here in the UK is about the same cost as a paper cup of coffee from Costa / Starbucks. This also pays for the BBC radio production costs.

I'd gladly pay that to be able to listen to BBC radio 4, radio 5 and radio 2 rather than anything with adverts in it. So the TV is free!
