Been getting some logs in ready to start cutting next week. Got some nice oak from our own woods but it was a bit awkward to get to then some oversized stuff for splitting down which I just got on one load.

Spent yesterday processing arb-waste. Sorry to any woodturners but at least a cube of it was laburnum :blushing: but salvaged the best log. Made 17 nets worth from a what was free wood so they should be making a good profit from my days work. Always surprised when I see threads wanting to give away arb-waste when it can be turned into a handy little earner.

Woodworks, any chance of a better pic of the extra support you have fitted?

Even though I have only done a few m3 I can see that this machine really needs one there for the smaller lengths you get from thinnings / full trees & not just straight sticks.

Yes the gap is too big for shorter lengths and can prove a problem even with 8' lengths. I have shortened the end flap on the ram as this overhangs a lot and is liable to damage. I have made the additional roller pivot as it is potential crush zone when the ram returns. This was meant to be temporary while I had a metal one fabricated but this works for the time being. Ideally the roller would be spring loaded but this one is just held with friction.

Do you use it with the log lift too?

Oh yes. Would not be without on bought in roundwood but not much need with arb-waste as that's generally been cut down to easy handling size.

This is what the log lifter is made for [ame]

[/ame] That job was softwood but fresh cut and heavy as hell. Edited by Woodworks
