Nice, Whilst normally I'd say go ahead and get at it, I'd say that a third off that is a bit harsh, it's a bit too significant/special to do that.

Hurts me to say it though!

I'm taking a screen shot of this!

Got to agree though. I usually find the majority shock horror reactions to proposed reductions on here tedious. "Wouldn't a lift and thin do better?" Etc etc.

This one would be a real shame to hit by that much though.

Thank you. I am blessed with having several huge oak and beech trees. If anyone saw them there would be TPOs flying about. They are definitely ancient trees by definition. I want to be a sympathetic as possible to that particular oak.

A third off isn't being sympathetic

Unless it's presenting a real problem, leave well enough alone mate. You can't undo it.

So now, gently, it's emerged that it is your tree.

Are you a tree worker or are you seeking a view on the sort of price you should be expecting to pay someone to do the work for you?

I did wonder why some questions were being answered, some not so much....

:confused1: OP seemed pretty clear to me.

I have an oak tree, I guess it's twice as tall as an average house, trunk is nearly 2m across. 1/4 of it over a house. What is fair ££££s for a crown reduction? Situated in the middle of nowhere Devon.
