Age of saws

Good evening all went in to a largish garden centre today they sell a small amount of Husqvarna equipment and spotted a 395 Xp Asked about it and was told they thought it was two years old approx with out digging out paper work

How could I tell the age of the saw !!! Do they Carrie a year of manufacture date on them some where Thanks all

The black id plate below the oil cap has a date on it.

year of manufacture is listed on the serial number plate within the serial number I think.

My mate had a husky that was rough round the edges,he got the serial number and looked up online for the year of manufacture,failing that you could contact the husqvarna technical team with the serial number

Be sure its not a Zomax Chinese rubbish thing badged as a 395 .....

As said here the ser no will incorperate the date of manufacture, the first digits should be the year followed by the week followed by the machine no. produced in that year and week, prior to 2000 the first digit was the year in a ten year rotation ( 9 could be 99 or 89 and so on, the next two digits will be the week ) e.g. 934000010 1999 week 34 10 off the line. In 2000 the first two digits were 00 2001 01 etc, today the year is printed in front of the ser no.

Exactly what I was thinking - make sure it looks like this - Note the high rise airfilter cover and the design of the recoil/flywheel starter cover. It would be a strange item for a typical garden centre to have for sale!

 

The serial plate is the black plate below the oil filler cap!

Thanks for the info lads ,when buying a saw from a dealer how old is to old as in been sitting in the shop or store for months or longer

If its never been run then pretty much ok for years . If there was a brand new 242 on the shelf somewhere I would snap it up !
