Yes be careful around corners. I have one and it has been on its side!! to prove the bomb proof issue, it was working again that day.

Parts B-Trac, Vermeer Uk in Wellingborough.

Very basic and very good machines but it wont keep up with a 150 timberwolf. Single roller so more snedding than twin roller machines.

Flywheel bearings are expensive so make sure you get these from a bearing specialist rather than vermeer.

Perkins diesel and kohler petrols are standard fit.

Pm me if you need any more info.

I owned one as my first chipper the one i got was abit of a dog to be honest, never really used it in anger as it broke everytime i took it out. I wasnt impressed with the roller as others have mentioned. Very very very weak pulling and crushing power in the roller. Heres a video when i first got home with it. Shouldnt put the clutch in on full revs and i didnt no theres a switch to turn on and off the no stress as you can see i was running with it off as it nearly stalls.

I ended up taking it back to where i bought it as everything was falling to bits like the fan went throuh the radiator the first time i took it on a job hydraulic oil was all milky and kept getting water in it. On the plus sode they are buit like a tank and very strong things with very easy to get to blades and maintenence is a doddle on it.

Thanks guys, really helpful yet again.

I went and looked at it today and found that contrary to what he had told me it had no stress control (Vermeer tell me the earlier ones weren't fitted with it) and no safety bar. It wasn't in great condition either so I left it. The search goes on...!

My dad has a Vermeer back in the 90's, similar looking but don't know which model it was, you had to double up on the springs to get them to pull in properly or wasn't enough pressure being single rollers

Iv still got one and keep it as a back up, good chipper strong and simple, I was shocked how easy it rolled over, clip a curb or mini roundabout and its over,

Iv converted mine to a twin axel now and the axels stick out the side now so really stable and easy to move about and hitch up etc and easy to reverse becouse you can see the mud guards in your mirrors

Hi  I have a vermeer 625 petrol engine  .does anyone know if I can replace the petrol for a diesel engine.

Maybe someone has done this.

Thanks

Patrick

You can bolt whatever you like on it, but unless your engine output shafts are the same size and the engines run in the same rpm range, you are going to have to get creative with pulleys and shafts for the chipper to run at the proper speed.
