Is the smaller 70/75 any good or is it worth sticking to the 110? I only have a 37hp alpine so anticipate not being able to run the larger machine.

Im in the same boat, I have a 17hp kubota, a mf 575 and a NH7740 (albeit with a ts110 engine).

I dont want to lug the bigger tractors around, and the kubota is ideal for the smaller jobs.

I was advised to go for the tr75 as it has a belt drive with pulleys which are designed for smaller hp tractors.

I couldnt afford to deal with a certain distributor and if you search online for snowmobil.com (yes without the e) you will see a huge difference in the price on a tr75.

I love this idea. This sort of stuff burns as well as anything else in a good, efficient stove. We must all have felt the heat when burning up brash and have thought about all that heat going into your home instead. Money down the drain. I reckon if you could get it into vented bags and then under cover or polytunnel etc. you would have some superb fuel and you can always mix it with big logs so you don't lose the fire.

Did you buy the tr75 in the end then? If so how are you getting on with it?

Owned a TR70 for a few years now. No looking back and burn its output most nights. We top up the wood burner from a coal scuttle which, in turn is filled by scooping up the wood chunks from a 1000ltr IBC. The output of a TR70 'flows' just like coal; I am not sure the 110 output would be as fluid. In any case I would be logging stuff that size anyway.

Its good in a wood burner but if you have a wood boiler then wood chunks are no brainer as far as I am concerned.

Apologies for asking the no-brained question but do you mean that you think TR70 chunks would be very good or very bad in a log boiler?

I'd have thought they'd be very good but I've heard gassifiers can be fussy with size and shape of material so am prepared to be surprised (I am aware that a log boiler is not necessarily a gassifier).

It seems these branchloggers are a legal minefield with regards certification. I was just speaking to an owner of one make and he says, you wouldnt want to have a piece of clothing snag on a branch.

I thought the Urban machines had a stop mechanism, but I think it only wires into a tractor with an start-stop solinoid or electric pto. Not ideal for older tractors and the ones I was thinking of using.

If anyone on here could clarify the CE issues, and also if these machines are up to scratch for sites with safety officers Im all ears.

you don't need the full hp of a 50-70hp tractor if you look at their videos they run at sub 1500 rpm engine. its more rotational mass/grunt than ballsie hp that is need.

alpine tractor mite be a bit too low to carry tr110 branch logger.

Yeah. At 600 kg odd it will be pushing it in terms of rear lift and stability. Especially if you plan of pulling a trailer as well.
