I did mine with srts ltd on marsh Barton, they were spot on, first time pass. Real friendly. Recommend

Trailer training is just what I need to get on with so this thread is ideal!!

I've just asked SRTS Ltd (Steve Robertson Training Services SRTS | Driver Driver Training, CPC, Lorry driver training, Fork lift training, Hiab Training - for my reference) to send me over their available dates and prices; they sounded nice and sensible on the phone, which is a good start. Will have to see how the potential dates fit into my schedule. :)

i have just spoke to him, he said the next test date is not until 20 march is this a standard time wait?

Yep thats standard.

I have just booked up to the 15th March & if you wanted me then the next test would be the 20th or 21st March.

The issue is two fold.

One the DVSA are short of examiners & also want to run at an 85%+ capacity. So no unused tests.

Two, the big companies can buy up the tests in advance, hold them & if they then dont use them drop them just before they would loose money on them (5 days before the test date).

I can also buy up tests & hold them but it ties up a lot of capital & I am not allowed to buy as many as the big companies as a % of how many I do.

Each week they open up the next week at the end of the line. Our test center has 20 trailer test slots per week. The two big companies can buy 16 of them. The other 4 have to be shared between the smaller set ups. I think there are 4 or 5 of us who use that test centre.

Ideally I want two tests per week, but at least one. As it stands I am lucky to get 2 or 3 a month. Add in that most people dont want to book & pay for this 2 months ahead & the system really screws up the small guy. Would be much better if the wait time was about a month.

The tests they drop some times get picked up my smaller units like me if I can get a customer who can do the training & test at short notice & I dont already have a prior booking.

So for me its about the 2 month lead time or 1 to 2 weeks short notice.
