I'm not racist when it comes to differing shades of orange. I have a complete mix of husky and stihl in my lockup.

My husky 372 is an awesome saw. As is the 560. My T540 rocks and happily pills a bigger bar but my ms200t is more reliable. My 357xp is a clunky old girl, needs a new exhaust. But it rips through wood like a youngun. My ms441 simply rocks... My cute little 150 had some fuel issues but is back to full force now, handy little thing. And the list goes on.

I had a client point at my husky 560 and say "what is that doing here!!" He was an old farmer. I said earning it's keep and doing well at it

Ignore them. Just tell them your not racist to colours of orange.

You know that Auto tune is gonna play up and bog down just when you need it........Stihl for the win I reckon.............:001_tongue:

That's ok i'm used to saws packing up that's why I carry so many, currently in the van are a 560xp, 029, 038av, 028av x2, ms250, husky 50 rancher, 017, husky136 and three husky 36's. Strength in numbers! Not the greatest or most expensive collection of saws but they do what I need and they can all be stripped down and rebuilt with some basic tools without having to leave site. I have a transit mwb van so plenty of space for them but if space was a factor then i'd probably take the 560xp, the 028av woodboss, and one of the 36's

if its just a case of defending what you own because you paid a hefty wad of cash for it and need to rubbish the opposition to justify the price then that's ok, but some people take it a bit too far, and would be buyers don't get the best advice if its coming from a diehard. Don't want this to degenerate into a debate over what saw is better as both seem to be able to create crap, then claim they are for the "domestic market". Just curious as to why people get all pissy about it?

On another note say a mid sized pro grade saw costs £600 new, and a similar cc machine from the same manufacturer for the domestic market costs half that, does it cost half as much to make, is that not like saying "we could have made this saw into a good reliable machine, but thought stuff it lets bake a turd!

Think this translates into many makes of kit…landys , tractors , diggers ,Cars,Trucks ….and so on. As has been said its not new and seems to be a human trait. I think there is a genuine reason behind some of the support that Husq and Sthil get. After all i suppose the motive mainly could be down to passing on the benefit to others of what you believe to be a good product . Remaining open to the merits of both is not always going to happen plus Dolmar and Jonsered have a following too.

"A following " now there's a thing..remember how some perhaps "Followed" bands ..maybe still do ??

Being open and even handed is never easy ..Especially if you feel you are right in your support of something.

Me..I have a soft spot for a Swede , always have..BUT..i like and have Sthil's and Dolmars.. I Cherry pick the expertise the saw companies have and therefore if asked to recommend a saw ..I recommend from my favourites from them all.
