Best way to clear gorse

I've got a hectare of gorse to clear for a friend, very rocky and too steep for a mulcher.

No bigger than 5ft, 80% coverage. my plan is two guys chainsawing two guys burning.

Just wondered if anyone had a better idea or had done a lot in the past and knew of any tips ?

I've done something similar to this before...

 

We had 3 guys on chainsaws, and 5 guys (all without quals) just dragging and burning it.

 

Worked very well and had the hectare of gorse cut and burnt within 2 days.

Brushcutter with clearing blade, no bending down and getting needles down ure neck!!

I've done some on my own with a mulching blade on a brushcutter, yes it's slow but atleast there's no material to get rid of.

 

 

Assuming there's no trees etc nearby, wonder how well it would work if you cut a nice wide border round the hectare then set fire to the lot in situ!?

Chainsaw/ clearing saw operator and greenmech safetrak with operator. done plenty and this is the quicker option even clearing the chip off site compared to burning

Sounds like the only way is saw and burn because of access. I did some 4 years ago on grass land used loader tractor with wide muck fork and just pushed it all out and then burnt no sawing at all.

It's a SSSI and SNH said they didn't want us to burn in the area but would let us burn off the rock, the rock being special!

 

Closest a tracked chipper would get is 30 yards, it's a serious slope.

I've done a lot of gorse removal with the 3 tonner and grab, I just pull it straight out, the roots are never deep and doesn't make a mess.

If you can walk it you can usually get the machine to it.

I can clear a fare bit in a day.
