Very easy to make. Could you loan off a nearby nursery?

Depending on size,equipment and access a digger/tractor with an endless sling. Nurseries handle them with these looped around the lower stem.

 

You can get hooks which are similar used in forestry, not tongs just one hook on a handle.Abattoir meat hooks are similar. But doubt they would be keen to lend.

 

How big are the trees/balls?

we have used a short soft sling around stem and a bit of 4x2 between two guys for heavy ones.

a very short sling around the stem , or two for two people.

the end of a ratchet strap could act as a hook, dunno what youd do with the other 5m of it tho!

iam sure that earth must be a 50/50 mix of recycled lead, how can something that size be so heavy!!?
