.9 m3 apparently. So not quite but as near as makes no difference!

I hate doing logs for this very reason, mine are from Arb arisings so free wood but a pain to process. With people selling wood this cheap locally it is hard to compete!

Don't try to compete on price put the price up and supply a quality product.

I put my my up 30% this year and I'm as busy as before but making 30% more.

Not logs it's true but the idea is the same. People will pay more for quality.

It may take some time to get there but you will get new customers who are willing to pay the extra.

Just my opinion

There is someone local to me selling a cu of Oak and Birch barn stored at below 20% moisture for.... Wait for it.... £40! I literally can not comprehend it! I am in the south east as well!

I would be looking to buy and store his stock for when it gets cold.

Got 7 people in my local magazine selling firewood + 3 like me selling stoves with a firewood sideline. Prices down to around £60 for what is allegedly a cube.

The warm autumn does not help sales for anyone but some snow and frost will soon bring the sales in.

I'm just trying to get this straight. 90cm cube bag = 0.73 m3. Filled with loose stacked logs with a factor of 1.6m3 to solid wood/m3 = 0.455625 m3. Just checking to see if this is correct. (density figures from Eurofuels Website). :001_smile:

Sounds right to me. I guess volume will vary depending on log length. 35cm length will equate to less in a bag than 20cm lengths.

1 cu metre crate of imported ash £149 the tightly packed crate tips into exactly two full bags of loose logs. Bags are 0.85m all sides. We sell bags at £79. It's selling well even though it is expensive, but it is very good quality kiln dried stuff. Customers love it. Softwood goes out at £49 a bag. Mixed seasoned hardwood at £59 but we're running out of that.
