Price of processed logs per m3

Anyone else noticing more and more cheap firewood being advertised in there local area?

 

Average price around here is £60 to £80 per cubic meter for seasoned hardwood logs delivered. This includes logs from both kiln dried and naturally seasoned suppliers. Big and small setups.

 

This appears to be at odds with the increasing cost of roundwood (cord)

£60-£80 a m3 delivered and at that price I could stay at home and earn f--k all

Earning nothing, and getting no where fast!

Perhaps the logs are a by-product of RHI payments? still everyone seams to be trying to undercut at the moment.

I sell .5 cube builders bag for £55. The wood has cost me nowt and process it when we Finnish early or have my man logging and splitting in the summer. I don't buy cord in anymore as its not worth the hassle. There are people round my way selling kiln dried for bigger all but have spent loads on kilns??

Whilst turning up to do some hedgetrimming the other day,i noticed a small heap of logs in the customers driveway. As we were getting our stall set out i asked the fellow how he came by them. He said he'd got them off a local log man and seemed happy to have paid £120 "for a ton load" . This was for what i saw as knotty wet corsican that looked to have been felled about a week ago, and at most would have filled into 5 wheelbarrow loads.

Erm, gents, the price of ANY fuel, is driven by oil.

Since oil is now dirt cheap again, this will inevitably drive down the price for other fuels.

Never mind the (however short term) glut of fracked gas.

Simple basic Capitalism at work.
