Only by pointing out that you meant "bored" instead of "board". One is a state of mental restlessness, the other is a piece of wood.

And if you can't have a conversation without resorting to personal comments, I'm done entertaining your Saturday night argument.

No offence intended Joe but being continually pulled up for punctuation and spelling mistakes is a little tiresome and boring, i don't want to write a book i am a manual worker and proud of it and have never found my admitted punctuation and spelling mistakes a problem, i type this as i eat my supper of M&S Cheese board & Fruit whilst sipping a very nice MACPHAIL'S 10 YEAR OLD single malt, no debts, mortgage paid off ect, in Pink Floyd's words " we don't need no education" Cheers Sean.

People mistake academic prowess being linked to intelligence all too often.

Indeed, they do. There are so many types of intelligence: academic, emotional, social, practical, and logical, to name five. We excel at different ones and have short-comings on different ones, and this can even vary depending upon the situation. There is a time and a place for most types of intelligence, and it really depends on the field one will be working in, and the settings in which one places themselves on a routine basis.

Glad you're doing well Sean. Since you mentioned my Mrs, she'd be very envious of the cheese board

Not so much the whiskey mind. Taste I never acquired. I'll stick with the Rioja that's airing.

I fall seriously short on the social/emotional spectrum.

There is little logic between the courses that are offered and the jobs/skills that are needed:

Below was lifted from the Guardian (found it because I heard that we produce the same number of kids with beauty qualifications as we need engineers, and we produce the same number of engineers as we need qualified beauty people ).

"According to the LGA, last year more than 94,000 people completed hair and beauty courses, despite there being just 18,000 new jobs in the sector, meaning there were five people qualified for every job. Of these, more than 60% – 57,000 people – were 16 to 18 years old.

Similarly, more than double the number of people were trained to work in hospitality, sport and leisure than there were jobs advertised.

"This is simple stuff which other countries manage to get right," said Peter Box, chairman of the LGA's economy and transport board. "We are teaching too many young people the wrong skills, and we can't go on pretending that all courses are intrinsically the same and have the same prospects. Too many courses are effectively leading young people nowhere, while there are skill shortages in other areas."

Applications to work in media were also heavily oversubscribed, with colleges training more than 83,000 people to fill 65,000 jobs in broadcasting, journalism and public relations.

But last year fewer than 40,000 people trained to fill around 72,000 new jobs in the building and engineering trades. Similarly, in the construction sector 123,000 people were trained for 275,000 advertised jobs – more than two jobs for every qualified person".

Cheese and single malt Sean.....?

That's probably the most offensive thing I've ever seen on Arbtalk!
