Greetings everyone, thanks for having me. My name is Grizz and I'm a wood burning fiend. I am the admin of another popular firewood forum, but we don't seem to get many UK visitors and I have been interested in how you guys go about things verses how we do them. For instance, we had a german member tell us that they cut their logs to 4 ft and split and stacks them. Only when they are ready to burn do they cut them to length. Things like this really intrigue me.

Welcome. In ireland the wisdom seems to be to cut to length, then split while still fresh, if splitting is needed, then throw into a large box made of pallets with a sheet metal roof to season.

Thanks everyone. Yes, a quick google search shows that billets are preceisly what I was talking about. The fellow did not use the term in his descript. For the bloke who asked which state I am from, it is Iowa-- smack in the middle of nowhere, but as of today our college football team is 10-0 so that's not too shabby.
