After a bit of advise,

I'm in the market for a D40 Navara with a budget of about £6k. I was hoping that a few of you might own or have owned one in the past and could give me a heads up of what to look out for when viewing/ test driving the trucks.

This will be my first time owning a 4x4 so not very clued up on them :blushing:

Only experience I have had with them was a 2005 one, weak clutch plates and fault with the throttle system used to idle at high revs only way to reset it was to let it idle then it would reset itself automatically.

Mines been great, only problem I've had is the 4wd sensors went (wouldn't go into 4wd)

Got water into them! Had the kit retrofitted to stop it happening again.

I am thinking about selling it as I need to purchase a bigger truck...haven't made my mind up yet?!?

Two mates had them and won't ever buy one again. One was always doing half shafts and clutches. Other had engine problems. Don't know what the new versions are like.

I'm looking to buy a pick up too I'm not keen on navara, after the problems of conrods through the sides of the engines,

Apparently not very nice!

Again, thats the old D22 model which is now 10 years old. One day people will move on from that!
