Hi there as you may know I'm looking to buy a new camera. I found this great deal on a listings/freeads type website. I contacted the seller to ask a few questions about camera, condition etc etc and he sent me this reply

"I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. Let me expain : you`ll pay eBay...i`ll ship the camera, once you`ll be approved to buy(after you finish the transaction with eBay). You have 5 days to decide if you keep it or not.If you decide to keep it...eBay will relise the deposit on my name and you`ll have to transfer the rest of the money to them.If you decide not to keep it...you have to ship it back with the same shipping company for no costs and you will be refunded 100%.Fair enough ? If so..let me know your full name and address including zip code so we can proceed. "

What do you reckon, seems like a good deal, any one else had dealings via Ebay on a set up like this???

I sell stuff on ebay and use paypal (I hate it but it still remains an excellent way of promoting my equipment).

Reading your post I'm already confused and would not touch it with a large bargepole!!

I'd do a lot more research first or look elsewhere.

With 'real' camera equipment i.e. new digital SLR's your far better going to a proper independent Camera shop.

You'll get sensible help and advise, not everything is about price. If however your after a cheap point and shoot go for it. I still wouldn't deal with this fella as he doesn't seem to have much of a grasp on what he's doing lol

I'd be asking myself 'what's wrong with the standard ebay procedure?' I've heard of such things before and I think there are hijacked accounts involved, i.e. genuine e-mails, accounts etc, but being illegally used by hackers or the like.
