I'm sure its a great place but we only stayed one night of a planned 14 days. :001_rolleyes:We booked into the a good hotel, had a good dinner we went for an evening walk where all I said was "Isn't it strange why we come all this way when all we need is at home (friends, shooting, motorbike, cycle, ski-boat etc). Well that was it. I wasn't spoken to until next morning when I found she'd packed our bags & cancelled the hol. The taxi arrived taking us back to the airport where she paid about £200 extra to have an earlier flight home. Wished I'd had the balls to stay alone, would've had a great time:thumbup:...at least until I got home.

As has been said, loads of history & v pro British.

Blimey - that's what you call a reaction. Only one I got that was near that on the richter scale was when my wife told me she was preganant and I replied

'Thats going to bugger up my training schedule':thumbdown:

Coincidentally we didnt go to Malta as a result of that.

Having thrown a few strops on our various unplanned European driving holidays many years ago, where I did all the driving, and SM couldnt be arsed to navigate.

I bow my head in abject shame, I was nowt but a bloody amature.(I think 3 days without speaking was my personal best)

I have heard it is a lovely place to spend some time.

Regrettably some of the population refuse to accept that blasting migratory birds out of the sky is not a very nice thing to do. I just can't get my head around why people like to do stuff like that!

Hope you have a great time though difflock.

Now that did strike me as odd, men dressed on full English tweeds complete with a spaniel or two blasting the bejesus out of anything that moved regardless of vermin game or songbird was somewhat surreal.

I am all for kill it cool it eat it but there isn't much eating on a songbird

Booked a last minute deal myself, flying from Luton on the 9th for first trip to Malta, taking the fishing rods as heard the sport is pretty good of the jetties and rocks, weather looks good although the start of the wet season, got to be better than the Norfolk broads in a wet September though.

Good timing this post, thanks......

We went last year and timed it to see the Mdina classic car event (good day out) and the start of the Rolex Middle sea yacht race from Grand Harour (magnificent)

This year the car event is between 8th and 11th Oct and the start of the race is on the 17th with practice races from the 13th. Weather was still hot and sea was warm enough for swimming and snorkeling.

Very pro British. Went round the museum in the harbour and the bell from the aircraft carrier that relieved Malta during the war was on display. Just said to the wife I am surprised your dads bell is still here after all this time and the next thing was we where swamped with very grateful locals all with a story to tell and the gratitude towards us was overwhelming. Shame really as we had booked the holiday for her dad but he died a month prior to going.
