The ironic thing is that my orginal post was to draw attention to how UC wil change the taxation system for everyone. In particular the changes that will effect those currently claiming child tax credits as you will need to prove monthly income and not fluctuate it across the year.

This change is actually meant to encourage people to grow there business so that benefits are no longer required. Which really is only to be considered a good thing. low tax high income economy is to the benefit of everyone.

This thread derailed from the get go Chris. :001_huh:

It's now turned into a slanging match between the human dodgem and tree quip, who should be resting up and relaxing. :blushing:

I think when foreigners poke at the British welfare state and particularly the NHS, blood pressures will always rise as its something most Britons are rightly proud of. But let's not turn this thread into an Internet slanging match while more important issues are underlying, ahem such as my MS391 not oiling well! :001_rolleyes:

And for the record: Breaking Bad is far far from tripe, being one of the most watchable exports from the U.S. since Cheers.

I suppose most Americans prefer stuff like 'Friends', or would that be a sweeping generalisation too?

Gawd, its like talking to a closed door, its pretty thick and you often simply don't get an answer.

I think I am correct in saying your sum total experience of the UK is a couple of stints manning a trade stand and whatever twisted perspective you have gleaned from your media yet you feel qualified to lecture on the UK health and welfare system. Thank you for your opinions, I will weight them accordingly.

FYI the treatment was high quality, prompt and efficient delivered by quality staff.

My answers are not satisfactory for your needs so you can choose to except or decline. I am glad that your happy with the results for the surgeries that you have had performed on yourself and I hope much sooner than later you have the balance completed to make you as whole and functional as possible.

My knowledge of the State run health care system is based on my years of private study and 6 different family members in the health care industry.

These family members have confirmed my findings as well, so in spite of the fact that you believe your treatment was " high quality, prompt and efficient by quality staff", it was still rationed and timed according to the states needs and abilities. As stated before many Europeans that can afford the trip and cost of the surgery travel to the U.S. To have procedures done in a few days instead of months or longer. Your choice was made along time ago with regards to your health care needs, ironically before you were born. I am glad that I still have personel choices that can be made by myself and my doctor and not dictated by the state and scheduled accordly.

The system your referring to does not work for everyone, if it was forced to due to a natural disaster or invasion it would completely fold. House of cards, yes your still gullible to believe american TV, especially the tripe you mentioned earlier.

I have already made my case earlier based on my own findings and evidence

provided. With regards to American TV, in particular the Two programs you mentioned I will have to take your word for it based on the consumption needs of the UK viewing audience. To glorify the life and times of one person who by way of chemistry makes a choice to produce mind altering substances for profit, with no regards as to how destructive the whole insidious nature of drug abuse is can only be shallow viewing quality at best. The Second choice know as friends, by the way you sure can pick some looser programs, is also based on what Hollywood would like things to be based on the media and advertisers maintaining control over millions of really stupid viewers. Not saying your stupid, just the programming is. Sadly American TV has pretty much gone down the toilet along time ago:thumbdown:. Since your reference point with regards to viewing habits and American culture are based on Two programs with no redeeming qualities IMHO you can make up your own mind what is real and fake that Hollywood produces for the masses of asses to consume. I have better things to do with my life based in reality and not fiction.

And of course you have data to support your claims , not just the isolated here say of people " working in healthcare" ( pushing a mop in a hospital doesn't count)'

There are plenty of healthcare tourists going out of the UK but afaik, a lot are going to Eastern Europe for elective cosmetics rather than to the states for life saving

You clearly disagree with how we do things but that's OK, we have our own opinionated minority but we are a democratic state so you can have your say, just don't be surprised when no one is in your corner
