that's been added since they relisted it...

No it hasn't...

On the original listing, it quite clearly states collection i person.

Did you contact the seller prior to bidding to ask if they'd post it for you?

If (as seems the case) you won this auction, then afterwards asked them to post it they're entirely in their rights to cancel the purchase.

They may have had no end of trouble with parcels "getting lost" in the post, postage cost being more than expected, couriers not sticking to agreed times etc?:001_smile:

in my opinion they don't want to sell it as it's going to cost more in fuel (unless you live on their doorstep) to go get it rather than have it couriered...

The original auction you won...

WOOD for turning, mahogany? Very dark heavy wood | eBay

In my opinion you should use your petrol & time to drive up & get it, {or take your mrs get on the train & have a day out...} after mucking them about like that.

No ebay seller needs customers like that...Those Who ignore, the clear sales conditions...expect it posted & then slag them off on a public forum...

I was guessing African blackwood?

yes that's the original auction i won and was aware that they had listed it as "free collection in person" but i did ask 16 hours before the auction ended about postage but got no reply.

i've asked this of many a seller before and they've always been happy to post as long as i pay for it s did not expect them to refuse in the way they did as they were quite rude about the matter...

i suppose i was just frustrated that they weren't prepared to post such a small item but that's my problem not theirs.

i believe it's cocobolo from the stripes but i'll only know when i receive it.

a kind arbtalker has agreed to collect it and do the shipping.

I had an ebay issue where the seller changed the listing. The info was inaccurate, I told the seller and they changed the listing. They relisted an identical item with adjusted wording. They didn't however sort it out with me and when I took it up with ebay all they could see was the revised listing, it was like dealing with a robot or computer. Yes/no black/white

So watch out, store a copy if the original listing.

Glad you are sorted with this one Steve.

I don't like posting out on eBay

The reason is if you post they then want to pay with PayPal so more money down the drain + ebay commission.

You then she'll out for postage. They then open a case or deny it arrived and you have lost the item the postage and the fees if you don't pursue it.

I am sure most like steve are genuine but it's just not worth the risk.

It's a shame as there must be other workshops filling up with stuff that could be recycled and made use of.

As it happens I just sold my butchers block on eBay a couple weeks ago, had it listed as collection I person and the buyer than asked my address so he could send a courier. I told him no as per the advert. Like Steve just said, it's just not worth the hassle sometimes. I'm guessing this guy has probably been stitched up on eBay before and knows the score. eBay isn't what it was, too many people playing the system

Get your postage cost including the cost of packaging and add a bit for paypal fees. Send 2nd class signed for so they cannot say it was not received.

The more you try to accommodate the more it blows up in your face. Even though I said personal collection no couriers his courier arranged to collect Monday so booked the day off site and he was a no show. Then shows on Wednesday with no notice as you can imagine I got neg feedback because I was 200 miles away. If they collect and pay cash it's easier as they are sure they are happy with their purchase if they really feel it is not as described I even help with fuel costs can't say fairer than that.

Good one... cocobolo? I hadn't thought of that...

That's strange, auction are visible to everyone for at least 15 days after they end, some stay visible for years... {most 3 to 6 months.} But all changes to listings are recorded... sounds like you just got fobbed off....

They are hard work to deal with on occasion.... But brilliant on others...
