If you do take legal action, as I understand it, you would then have to inform any prospective purchaser when you come to sell your house.

What about speaking to your local tree officer to ask if they will put a TPO on the tree (explain the circumstances) so that if happens again, the council can prosecute?

Taking legal action against someone for a criminal act wont make it a dispute.

I would explain the law to her that it is legal to prune up to the boundary but not beyond. Also that you must be offered the arising but can refuse them as is normal. Mention that she should tell the pruner as well. She might not know these things so an easy first step without falling out.
