7.5 ton or 10 ton?

I always fancied getting an urban artic, stretching it up And putting a crane on the back and putting a drawbar trailer behind. 24 tonne gross and only £165 tax a year....

7.5, 10 or 12 ton lorries are all physically the same size , they are only different by the axles and springs. Unladen weight difference is minimal. All require the same operators licence, maintenance and if your driver is under 35 an additional licence. If your going to need a crane then go for a 12 or 13 ton, it will go anywhere a 7.5 ton will, Daf are usually a good bet and used ones from a council or utility company possible where they will have been well cared for

dont forget the driver will have to have his CPC as well, your servicing will be 8 weeks and no more, so go for the biggest you think you need, there are plenty of lease deals out there with good low % pay back, shop around and play one of against the other, remember punters do it to us!

Dont need cpc if driving is not your main duty, as in i drive tools to work site to work ie climb trees

If you're going over 7.5t you may as well get a crane at the same time. In which case I wouldn't go for anything under 12t.

You'd need to do c+e to tow a chipper behind it if you went bigger that 7.5t wouldn't you?

Yes c1+e only cover you for a 7.5 tonne towing vehicle with up to 4.5 tonne trailer making 12 tonnes total gtw

Unless you have C1E 107 - not more than 8,250 kilograms train weight
