Have DVLA given me a full bike licence?

I am a bit worried about changing my license. I don't have the 107 restriction on my old license. I have copied it a few times and am about to apply for a new photo card license.

Any suggestions to ensure I don't lose any of my entitlements?

I had a load of hassle with the DVLA to get my trailer entitlement back even though I had a photo copy of the license I sent away.

In the end I got a photo copy (with a covering letter) from an old employer. This seemed to please the powers that be.:confused1:

Get your license copied by as many companies that you work for as you can.

Seems they will take the word of companies but not individuals!

No, it just means you're entitled to ride a bike after completing the motorcycle theory and both mod1 and mod2. It doesn't mean you have the licence for it

They have made hard work of these tests, if you look at my license you will see that the car and bike test were the same day, I passed the car test and sat in the waiting room for two minutes and the same tester came back in the room and called out my name for the bike test. No highway code questions because I had just done them in the car , just a few laps of the streets around the depot and that was that, 2 hours max.The HGV1 was the same, an hour or so driving and a few highway code questions.

Covering letter with copy of current licence and the number of your firm of solicitors.

Ohh, I thought you could always drive a trike on a car licence.

So if I did a full test the 79 code disappears?

used to be you needed a bike licence for a trike then they changed it to a car licence now they've changed it back but if you passed your test when car licence was required you still have the entitlement to ride a trike

Some people with a full bike license sent them off for renewal and they came ack with no bike entitlement at all . One of these was a bike cop !

a guy who was a bike mechanic for the cops for 25 years and had his licence checked every 6 months lost his entitlement when he changed address and the dvla refused to sort it said he never had it ever!! had to re-sit his test! mind you his 'test' consisted of a cuppa and a blether with the examiner who knew him well

Sent off my licence after my BE test

Came back with what looks like a full A entitlement

Any bikers confirm or disconfirm disconfirm this?

(I have taken CBT twice but never a full bike test)

Hey, just to clear this up for you the same thing happened with mine 2 years ago i got all excited but when i asked my mates dad who is a police officer he told me that that category only entitles you to ride a trike of any size not a motorbike (hence tri in brackets) So no you haven't been lucky and got one unfortunately. But when i moved over to NZ i told them DVLA here that it meant full bike and they gave it to me so now i have a 600cc to get to work on, so you could if you moved here haha. Hope this helps
