J, yer on your own, Innes estate is over behind miltown, there are so many different species of trees on that estate it could be anything, if it had been spynie or pitgaveney, there was a chance, they were church owned , and not so varied, but innes has been in the same family for generations, everything from everywhere planted on that one.

( how do I know, used to live in lhanbryde!)

Although id is easier of leaves,buds etc. than coniferous timber samples, expert like Kew will id small timber samples for the public/trade etc using microscopic,chemical & light analysis... I think it costs around £100.

 

You also get free tickets to kew gardens , but that might not be much use given your locality.

If you want to learn timber id. theres a one week course there course is just over £500.

 

Cheap if you have a couple of dozen samples to take along you want to id.
