firewood kiln - How do you build one? does anyone know

I have to ask.

Why?

Kiln dried fire wood might burn hotter & you will get more heat per kg of wood but the wood you start with will weigh less when you sell it & it will have used up energy to do so. Ok you can sell it for more but its cost you more to process. Then the buyer will store it outside & it will re absorb moisture till its the same as air dried any way.

It just makes no sense to me. Air dry it for long enough.

the above is true....(BUT) if you where to sell all your wood kiln dried, i bet you would sell out alot faster than selling normal firewood or (logs)...

iv been there and done it. the down side to this is, (hours worked) keeping the kiln going and checking on the product....not to mention you can only get so much in a kiln...which can be a pain in the bottom if you have loads of orders:thumbdown:

trying to source a cheap way to build a firewood drying kiln - anyone know how to build a cheap one - or any ideas

We have an old freezer container (8 inch insulatoin) with 3 dehumidifiers and 3 heaters, running off a waste vege oil generator. Drys firewood to 25% in 6 days. The firewood is cut into plastic storage boxes that are stacked 2 high by 8 long running on rails for easy loading / unloading.
