Electric Chainsaw

I am currently looking to buy an electric chainsaw, mainly to keep the neighbours happy with noise issues while cutting logs for home use, as it's a bit noisy running the Stihl on a Sunday morning on a housing estate. :sneaky2: The saws seem to range between 50 and 500 quid. What electric saws do you use? what do I need to stay clear of? Whats good and bad out there?:confused1:

I try to cut all my wood where it falls. But I do get wood handed to me at home, so I would like to stay friendly with the locals, and what jonny toerag can't hear means he might not come sniffing around my shed. :viking:

Any help would be much appreciated.

I've got one of these: Titan TTB355CHN 40.5cm 2000W Electric Chainsaw 230V | Electric | Screwfix.com

They have a good reputation / good reviews, and it's done fine for me so far - surprisingly quick and powerful. (A few uses to chop up logs). I only paid £49.99 for mine - they had an offer on and I couldn't resist - but now it's still only £75. Only 1 bolt holding the bar to the body though, could be a weak point in future?

I have an Ikra red that I bought from Tesco (I used Tesco vouchers, so no cash required - very miserly, I know:biggrin:). Its very good - I've been cutting about seven cube a year with it for my own use.Its not given me any problems so far.. A few months ago I got hold of a good sized Cherry tree. The Ikra cut up the trunk no problem. The bloke I got it off couldn't beleive it - he'd been and got himself and electric saw then found it wasn't up to the job so he'd given up.

Another vote for the Titan from Screwfix from me. I bought mine secondhand, £26 used on eBay used once, the chain was shot after someone had used it for cutting out roots but one spare chain later and all sorted.

I am impressed with the power of it, the lack of noise when handling logs is good, however my oil tank window doesn't work either and it weeps a bit of oil if stored flat.

But all in all, for the money, go for it.
