I understand from Arthur Conan Doyles works that a 'growler' is a type of horse drawn carriage, like a Hackney cab.

 

 

 

There may, of course, be other meanings

 

A "growler" is a pork pie here. WTF!

Growler definitions;

 

cockney rhyming slang- growl and grunt

A device that was once designed to check for shorts in alternator windings

An old Dublin slang for a taxi

A half-gallon jug of beer, typically sold by a brewery and re-fillable

A Yorkshire slang term for a pork pie.

To experience or unleash an intense bowel movement.

A small iceberg
