i was strimming footpaths last week and hit a nest of some sort got stung 6-8times on my hands ended up in casualty.the wasps in question were smaller than normal and way more agressive, ive still got to finish off the path and was wondering does smoke work on wasps like it does on other bees.

Can you get away with pouring petrol on them and burning them out?? Works a treat but it depends how well used the footpath is i suppose

not really seen any this year in leeds but have seen loads of bees including the big lumbering bumbles. Saw a couple of pine wasps at the yorkshire show:scared1:.

I came across this monster of a thing in France a few months back - it was, by far, the biggest flying insect I've ever seen - an easy 2 inches long from nose to tail:

It kept stealing our drinks, so in the end I ruined it's day with a copy of the Le Mans Yellow Pages and turfed it into a stream.

Walked underneath this little beauty today mowing grass. Would have been a nice suprise if I had been felling the tree. About the size of a football

That needs a big shot blasting, give 'em a little fright.

Haha, I once came across an underground one when I was strimming at the same site, first I knew was when two of them stung me so I just held the strimmer over the hole on full tilt, not one got past it, then I ran
