Would a PTO chipper realistically fit on a landy?

If you dispense with the chip box and tow a high sided 3.5 ton trailer (2t + payload) you have a 'small' rig which complies with VOSA regs when well loaded.

Turntable chipper mounted on the back with its own engine. Then tow a big tipping trailer. Vehicle engines aren't really optimised for donkey work.

Or a better idea, set the chipper on some sort of Aframe trailer behind a van fitted with a tipping body.......oh....hang on.

If this idea catches on then it won't matter when all the transit tippers get half inched by naughty criminals cos you won't be able to give them away to the arb trade.

 

Mind you, the cost of 3.5 ton tipping trailers will rise rapidly.

It actually makes a lot of sense, you could have a nice toolbox on your tranny and a turntable chipper and never be overloaded, and your trailer will legally hold way more chip...

SWB twin rear wheel daily with the 3l engine would be better than a transit. Would have to downrate it from 5.5 t though which isn't as easy as you'd think it would be.

Hi I have no experiance of these,but how about a dodge ram diesel take the body off put chipper on a turntable and with the cummins at 5.9 and 300 odd hp

would run it no problem then put tipper trailer on and it still would nt know it had it.Just a thought.
