Just use a cheap alternative glyphosate to roundup. Pop it on with an old paintbrush. But remember, it can and does sometimes translocation to adjacent living trees. I've seen it myself. Mix it with a blue dye if you have a load to do or you want to make it known that they have been treated

There isn't too much need to use Pro Bio unless you're using it due to being on SSSi site. Either way you will want to get your hands on a small hand sprayer (link below), this is a much safer and easier option than a paint brush. Also, add some dye (food colouring works fine) so you can see which stumps have been treated.

Used to use it working for a chap in north wakes on scrub clearance think it was mixed at 20%? He added in wallpaper paste and blue dye, reckoned the paste helps stop translocation on the stump and also dripping from the paint brush.
