Or modern day equivalent. :-)

This...

Wiggle | Assos Chamois Cream | Chamois Cream

Apply liberally in the morning. If you do chafe then apply Sudocreme or any nappy creme. Slather it on as soon as you stop for the day.

Don't, whatever you do, mix the two up and put the chamois cream on chafed bits. I know this from excruciating experience.

It says 'do not apply to intimate areas'! You really should make your own mind up about that...:001_rolleyes:

Thanks for the replies! to be honest i hadn't even thought about chafe - although that will definitely be a problem - so thanks for the advice! I was actually thinking the health side of things. I tend to cramp up towards the end of hotter (or more strenuous) days. And i would like to get a bit better at the longer climbs... I think its going to be a case of making the effort to get out in the evenings and weekends and smashing out a load of climbs...

I've done lands end to john o'groats, if you get the training mileage in your backside should be ok anyway, like someone said eat enough keep hydrated and you should be ok, 60km a day is only about 40 odd miles so shouldn't be too bad.

evening! i've got a 700km trip coming up in 8 weeks from Rimini (Italy) to Munich, was just wondering if anyone here had done anything similar and what they had done to prepare for it? It's going to be spread over 2 weeks, so about 60km a day.

thanks!

How old are you?.... do you think a vsit to the doctor to get a check up might be useful if your gettin on a bit?...

As to anything else, I'd just do a couple of hours biking on a couple of weekends before you set off to prime your legs for the trip...

Believe me, you don't need to bash out the miles, just a couple of runs to put your legs through it then have em have time to heal....

Its what I did when I did my walk last year, a ten mile walk followed by a fifteen mile walk the weekend after, a week off, then 90 miles over three days..
