Hi woodworks . I know it sounds arse backwards but I think it needs the conservatives to sort it rather than labour. Labour are renouned for given jobs to everyone so why have one boss when you can have ten. Where as the conservatives like one boss and lots of workers so presumably the managers will go and nursing staff will increase. I certainly hope so as my wife and sounds like yours too are seriously considering throwing in the towel.

I think you are right there. Spoken to a few long term staff there and they thought it was a better place under a conservative government. Less box ticking and more common sense. Lets face it the NHS will never have enough money. There is always some great new treatment to add to the vast range they already have. It all adds to the cost. Be nice if they could have the recommended staff to patient ratios though.

I thought that would make you all scratch your heads at that one. Yep the conservatives have capped the NHS severely and yes they need to get the knife out and make wholesale cuts but I think they will have the balls to get rid of the ones who drain large salaries out of the NHS but wouldn't have a clue what a patient looks like. Would you honestly say Labour would rid the NHS of needless managers who earns 6 figure salaries or just leave them there and try to find more money for more nurses with money we simply ain't got or exists

Hi TCD your mrs going through the same then

And mine Richie. Sad that they have such a hard time on a regular basis. I have to remind Liz of the few good days she has had. Not sure how long she will be able to hack it if things in Derriford don't improve.

Office politics mainly; she is a clinical nurse specialist so not on wards or shifts but she is a nurses nurse, traditional and compassionate, not hard-nosed and full of BS. My goodness, some HCA's should be shot!

I would have thought that anyone bonkers enough to launch a nuclear attack will have lost touch with reality to such an extent that they wouldn't give two hoots what came back the other way!

We spend 30% of the defence budget on Trident. There are many countries with no nuclear arsenal and they don't have missiles raining down on them. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the only nuclear attack in history was launched with our blessing.

right! but them trident subs are so sexy looking!

seriously though, how would any money saved by not renewing the nuclear "deterrent"be used? unless it is "hypothecated",i think it will disappear into the government finance black hole.

MrsR is a trainee nurse and technically is still a HCA ! But yes you are right some of them are really that bad . But she is having to be that hard nosed and telling agency staff off herself as the some of the Ward's managers are standing around saying or doing nothing

I don't understand you Woodworks :confused1: We're not under a Labour government, we've under a Conservative led government for the past five years. Or are you thinking that the NHS would be better without the Lib Dem involvement?

Yes sorry didn't mean to tar all with the same brush. The fact she wants to nurse is proper. However there are many hca's who are poorly paid, don't care and are now receiving training to be more caring! Kinda hope that healthcare professionals would be naturally caring! There are some very good HCA's and some dire.
