He was being generous, I could tell he was used to far bigger things.

I don't NEED a 4x4. I've got by with a Fiesta for long enough. I WANT a 4x4, and for the money I might as well. It's a good suggestion, one I'd never considered.

Don't do it Joe! If you don't need a truck, don't get one. Get a little van instead, you'll save a fortune in fuel and running costs.

Appreciated, but one day there'll be a circumstance where a 4x4 would be really handy/fun, and I'll regret listening to the voice of reason.

Besides, a small van isn't nearly as good at compensating for the chipolata.

I shouted without thinking mate, If you want a truck, go and get one! I did when I was your age. I'm at that age now where I think before I spend. Enjoy it while you can!:thumbup1:

Can't give any advice on the small sausage.... Never had one.

I used to run small vans, usually a fleet of 9 that we ran for around 300,000 miles then sold on.

Vauxhall Combo Diesels formed the bulk of the fleet for 10 or 12 years when we had timing belt pulley break up issues on Ford 1.8D engines in Escorts. We did take some Transit Connects and while we had no problems with them when I sold out they had onyl done about 100k each,

Had 1 x VW Caddy 1.9SDI , utter utter nightmare.

These were though only used on road, most of the time they were thrashed but lightly loaded.

Cheap vans to run ( VW excepted, that spent more time off the road than on it.)

I've heard that story about every single van mentioned in some form or another. At the end of the day it's the luck of the draw buddy. :)
