Cheers, the only vans I've found on auto trader under 100k are going for at least double that.

My budget is the same as yours basically, so it's good to know there are decent vans about for that money.

I'd love a 4x4 pickup but just can't justify the money!

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2,7CRD can be had within that budget.

Has a very strong merc 5Cyl, plpenty of power, more space and security than a pickup, very good off-road (3 difflocks) very comfortable, tows 3,5t with ease, 30-ish mpg.

Make you look a bit like a grandad or a school-run-mum though.:001_huh:

I'd also get, or make a bulkhead. Stop the light fingered sorts from seeing what's in the back when you are working.

It does come with the caged bulkhead eggs but I've got a feeling that's only designed for accidents to stop stuff flying into the front. I may put something in at some point mate :)

I'd stick the mesh one in for now, it might just stop you getting a combi can around the back of Ya noggin if you have to stamp on the brakes suddenly.

A friend of mine had one as a shooting wagon and it never got near 30 mpg mostly nearer 20 mpg.

Hmm, seems a good choice, but the mileage would put me off at 20mpg.

Ideally I'd like a 4x4 with enough grunt to pull 750kg, nothing more. It'd need enough space to carry kit, and get 30mpg min. Oh and for 2-2.5k.

Sorry for the hijack Adam.

I had an older Grand Cherokee given to me a while back, that did around thirty mpg, not towing. They are a lot of motor for very little money. Plenty of space in the back and really comfy to drive. And with a decent set of tyres good enough off road. If I needed a cheap 4x4 I would get another.

Cheers Eggs, there look to be some decent ones for around 2.5k

Do the rear seats fold forward?

What kind of mileage is the 2.7 diesel good for? For around 2,500 I'm looking at 10 years old and 100,000 ish miles.
