supportive or un-supportive? It is what it is! I make no excuses for LDV, I've been lucky so far but you get what you pay for, and I want a cheap truck cos I want to get paid for tree work and not haulage.

Remember my entire budget for this project was £3500 including the truck. I'll tell if I've gone over later!!

you are right rupe, i am only messing. the money that we have to spend to remove arisings is a nightmare. i wonder if i am just as well hiring a big skip every time i do a job and get the customer to pay for it direct. i could go to work in amy small van with some aws and climbing kit

We often do that on bigger jobs, especially if the wood is to be removed as well. Here the price for a 30 yard skip is close to a Ten yard one.Huge bonus is that sometimes if the Skip is passing the yard, the digger and tracked wheelbarrow goes with it to the job.

  • 2 weeks later...
Finally got the white board up on the other side of the truck. Just some minor finishing to do now and sign writing and tool lockers to go under the bed.

Looking good Rupe, i know you have had other things on the go but what sort of time frame would you put on the whole project start to finish?

Rich.

Difficult question. I had hoped to do it an a week off work but the week flew by, after that I spent another three days and three weekends on it. Not full days at the weekend though.

I'm makign it up as I go also, I'm not expert at this kind of thing. But with what I now know I reckong I could have done it in a week.

There was actually three days when I had no truck and work booked in. Other than that its has all fitted around the work/spare time that I have. The plan would be to do it again in a few years time with a later model LDV. That should be much quicker and easier.

Another thing- having all the materials and bits and pieces in one place before the start would have been a good idea of course. I spent a lot of time drivign round for nuts/bolts/ rivets extra aluminium wiring supllies etc. One day I'll have a fully kitted out workshop and spares/supplies etc.

:cursing:its mad the amount of time i wasted driving around looking for bits and bobs for mine.i rekon once you sort all the supplies out it saves loads of time/diesel driving about.
