If your harness is covered in poo then maybe its time to give up climbing! I worked last week on ghastly Leylandia which clean kit dirty very quickly because the resin and dirt on the tree transfers. I avoided any cleaner such has Swarfega which could degrade plastic and finished up doing a good job with it in the bath of hot water, a nail brush and washing up liquid. It didnt take that long and it finished drying outside on the washing line. It even smells nice! I dont think there is a quick machine way to clean your harness. Good luck.

I'd have to go with the huckster, don't see the point in having your kit clean and spring fresh it'll never last in this job.

I gave my old harness to my wife so we could climb on the weekends, she couldn't stand the stink so washed it in the bath with some soap flakes (used for washing technical clothing like gor-tex so is gentle on modern fibres and cheaper than specialist products) it came up like new.

In 15 years of climbing, I have NEVER washed any of my gear, with the exception of sticking crabs.

i have not been climbing anywhere near as long as skyhuck but i have never washed any of my climbing kit , the most my rope has seen is a rope brush and a bath of cold water . if you dont want your kit so smell musty etc hang it out to air over the weekends if you can of on the washing line at home for a day !!!!!

I used to have to wash my kit before I came home from the States.Mostly it would be covered in sap and seeds could stick to that and annoy the Customs Gents.I would cover it in Butter and lay it in an empty Bath.Leave it for a few hours, then scrub the Butter off with hand cleaner.

Seemed to work well.

Not really appropriate to bring your sexually transmitted disease's on here mate :001_tongue:

Only ever had to wash a rope that got covered in dog pooh, next time that happened I just binned the rope. Wont happen again since I wont be working in a garden full of dog crap again

I would have though a soak in soda bicarb should do it, dunno if it would attack any aluminium though :confused1:
