What length do people favour? (Oooh er!) I only do small scale log production, so don't have a log deck or any waist height working platform, or a processor of any sort to pull logs along. I assume an 80cm pick would be more useful than a 38cm pick?

Depends on user's height, leg/arm length and type of work, i.e. log deck, picking up short logs or moving rounds. For myself two would come in useful. A short one for grabbing logs off the top of stacks and a medium length for grabbing short lengths & moving rounds.

As it is, I've got half a medium length one. I say half, as I bought an axe handle, bolt & nut. But by the time I'd had a friend grind the bolt's tip, I'd mislaid the handle. I might even find all components on the same day... maybe.

Got my log pick delivered today. Jones didn't have any left when I went to order one so ordered a Helko from George Carr. Interestingly I got a Mueller instead. I'm not sure what trading standards would make of that! Seems much of a muchness to me, both 80cm. The Mueller is an ash handle instead of hickory but no worries I guess. Anyone have an opinion on Mueller for quality?
